Artistic Life Studios ~ Larry Capra aka zenabowli ~ Sample Portfolio

This is my first entry as a Stumbler in exile.  I decided to take the opportunity of exporting my ‘StumbleUpon’ blog to WordPress.  I did check out tumblr and catagorian like so many recommended.   I may use those apps in the future.  But, opted to move SU here at WordPress.com.

I find that there are some interesting tools to use in the wordpress platform and application.  In the long run. What I’ll miss most about SU is all the wonderful sites created by other stumblers.  All of those videos, paintings, photos and original poems.  I’m sure we’ll be finding our favorite people somewhere.

Anyway, I’d like to share one of my favorite tricks here at  WordPress.  Making galleries and slide shows.

I’ve always contended that art is an evolutionary process. This is an excellent example. Time and the elements make it an interactive (with nature) art-form.

Confessions of Robert Crumb – Clip 2 of 3

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=552F8-N7QeU

R. Crumb describes how psychedelics helped him peal away the veil of societal illusion. He essentially became an instant Buddhist.

It’s hardly known that Mr. Natural’s “twas ever thus” was coined, in a fashion, by Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Eyes Wander in Wholeo Dome

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ghp_h0vpbw Around 1975, I had the pleasure of sitting in Wholeo Dome designed and built by Caroling Geary, when she lived in Monte Rio California. We were young artists, secluded in the redwoods, forging our creative visions. But, Wholeo Dome (featured once in “Stain Glass Magazine”) was an artistic wonder that had few peers. If my info is correct, Wholeo Dome now has a permanent home at “The Farm’ in Tennessee. Take a look at this short video and get a look from the inside of the dome.

Sand Man – The Sand Art of Peter

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttwxawO0ESc

This is the ephemeral art of Peter Donnelly. Peter is known as the “Sand Man” or “Sand Dancer” His art is an excellent example of “freestyle” art, rooted in surrealism. These art forms are expressions of the artists subconscious inclinations, without preconceived notions.

His works also have elements found in Tibetan Buddhism.  Like when the monks make their colored sand mandalas; ephemeral art, reflecting the philosophy of impermanence.
